Why should you use Matching Equipment?

When installing a split system A/C or H/P, it is critical that the coil and condenser be matched and AHRI rated. Failure to do this might have negative results...

Performance:

To operate with the output and efficiency designed into a condenser; the correct coil must be used. While a miss-matched coil will provide some cooling/heating in some conditions, the system will not provide the rated capacity or efficiency in all the ranges of conditions it is designed to operate in.

Condensation

A critical part of the A/C system, along with cooling, is dehumidification. An incorrectly matched coil will not maintain correct coil temperature to remove the necessary water vapor from the home. This condition can lead to water blow off, or excessive humidity in the home which can cause damage.

Equipment life:

An incorrectly matched indoor coil can cause either liquid refrigerant flood-backs or freeze-ups, both of which greatly impact the life of the system.

Liability:

Many condenser equipment manufacturers, knowing the impact of mismatched systems, require correctly matched indoor coils for warranty coverage. Use of a non-matched AHRI rated coil may void warranties.

Compliance:

Many enforcement entities, including DOE, HUD, TVA, and local inspections require proof of a matched, AHRI rated system. Failure to provide can carry significant consequences, both legal and financial.
